IPL 2021: Andre Russell resumes training with Kolkata Knight Riders, completes quarantine

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) star player Andre Russell resumed training on Saturday after completing the necessary quarantine protocols before resuming the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). IPL 2021 resumes again with Indians from Mumbai taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 19 September. “The RUSSELL MANIA is back. Earlier, KKR captain Eoin Morgan said the team was ‘incredibly excited’ to welcome fans back for the resumption of the 14th edition of the IPL.
“(We are) Incredibly excited to have fans back at the IPL this year. It was too long to hear the roar of the KKR fans at Eden Gardens. Unfortunately it is not home, but I can not wait to see it here in the UAE, ”KKR.in told Morgan along the sidelines of a training session.
Brendon McCullum, head coach of the KKR, is well aware of the formidable task facing the team to get to the knockout blows, but he could not hide his excitement when he heard of the return of fans.
KKR batsman Rahul Tripathi also joined in celebrating the move by the IPL governing body, saying: “We missed them (fans) a lot during this period. Welcome back to the fans!”

After the clash with CSK-MI, the action will move to Abu Dhabi, where KKR will play against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Sharjah will host its first match on September 24 when Royal Challengers Bangalore Chennai Super Kings take on the fight. A total of 13 matches are being held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah and 8 in Abu Dhabi.
