A day later New Zealand abandoned their tour of Pakistan, veteran cricketer Mohammad Hafeez took to social media to investigate the Blackcaps contingent that left Islamabad on a charter flight on Saturday night. The visitors abruptly stopped the series in Pakistan on Friday, just before the first one-day match in Rawalpindi, after a ‘safety warning’. The sudden move caused anger among many current and former players in Pakistan. Hafeez took a photo of the departing New Zealand team on Twitter and wrote: “Thank you to the security of the Pakistani forces for making arrangements for @BLACKCAPS to arrive at Safe & Sound airport. Wonder the same route and the same security “But no threat today?”

The The New Zealand cricket team arrived in Dubai early Sunday after leaving Pakistan, but officials declined to give details about the security threat that forced them to abruptly cancel their tour.
While certain information was shared with the Pakistan Cricket Board, “and not private or public” specific details could be released, New Zealand CEO David White said.
Hafeez was part of the T20I team, which would face the visiting team.
New Zealand arrived in Pakistan on September 11 for a white ball series, and would play three ODIs and five T20Is.

The Tom Latham-led team also held a few training sessions in Pakistan under strict security. “… after an increase in the threat levels of the New Zealand Government for Pakistan and advice from the NZC security advisers on the ground, it was decided that the BLACKCAPS would not continue with the tour,” the New Zealand cricket said in a statement on Friday.
