The second match of the UAE leg of IPL 2021 will face two teams at different ends of the spectrum in the IPL points ladder. Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore play back in their first match at Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi, on Monday. Kolkata Knight Riders had a tough start to the IPL 2021 season in India, scoring just two wins from seven matches to finish seventh in the IPL point table. Their opponents on Monday, RCB, made a good start against it and sit in third place, tied for 10 points, with second place in the Chennai Super Kings. The Bengaluru outfit will make his mark this season and give Virat Kohli his first IPL title in his final season as RCB captain.
KKR gets a massive blow to the UAE leg with the Australian superstar Pat Cummins withdraws from tournament due to “personal reasons”. Despite a high economic figure of 8.83, the Aussie pacer was the highest wicketkeeper for KKR before the tournament was stopped.
He took nine wickets in seven games with a best of 3/24. KKR has joined Tim Southee as a replacement for Cummins.
RCB got off to a brilliant start to their IPL 2021 campaign, winning five of their seven matches. The Covid forced interruption comes at the wrong time for Virat Kohli’s team, and they will have to find their focus again.
Like many other teams, RCB was also hit by several withdrawals.
The team brought in Wanindu Hasaranga from Sri Lanka as a replacement for Australian Adam Zampa.
In the recent T20I series of three matches against India in Sri Lanka, Hasaranga took a total of 7 wickets, including a 4-wicket in the last T20I.
Meanwhile, Dushmantha Chameera came on for Daniel Sams, left-arm fast George Garton replaced Kane Richardson with Tim David for New Zealand’s Finn Allen.
