Sanju Samson once again failed to contribute with the bat during Rajasthan Royals (RR)’s recent thrilling final victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Tuesday at Dubai International Stadium. The RR captain was only able to collect four of five balls, with his team setting a target of 185 runs. PBKS almost crossed the target in the 20th round of their chase, but pacer Kartik Tyagi had other plans. The youngster took two wickets in the over and dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Deepak Hooda. The wickets were extremely important as RR won by two runs.

Legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has told Star Sports that Samson needs to work on his shot selection if he wants to be a regular player in India. The 26-year-old made his India debut in 2015, but has since played in just one ODI and 10 T20Is.

Even in the IPL, Samson became hot and cold on many occasions.

“What made him drop is the shot choice. Even at international level he does not open the batting surface. He was off the second or third wicket. And he wants to hit the first ball out of the ground. It It is impossible. It is “Absolutely impossible, even if you were in the richest form. You might have to turn it around two or three times and get your feet moving and then watch to play,” said Gavaskar.

“This is something he will watch out for; because otherwise it’s going to be a waste of such god-given talent. I’re always said that many shots selection boils down to temperament. That’s what separates men from boys. And therefore his shot choice be so much better if he is a regular player in India, ‘he added.

Despite having already registered a century in IPL 2021, Samson is seventh in the Orange Cap race with 281 runs from eight games.
