Steve Bannon and Mark Meadows summons shows 1/6 committee comes for Trump

The subpoenas issued to Steve Bannon, Mark Meadows and two others show that the 1/6 committee wants information from those who speak to Trump.

The 1/6 committee writes in a statement:

While serving as Chief of Staff of the White House, Mark Meadows reportedly communicated with officials at the state level and in the Department of Justice as part of an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election or prevent the election’s certification. . According to other reports, Mr. Meadows also contacted the organizers of the January 6 rally, including Amy Kremer of Women for America First. The select committee has previously sought records in the White House on Meadows, including its actions and communications and information it received about the results and integrity of the 2020 election.

Reporting indicates that former White House Deputy Chief of Communications Daniel Scavino was with the former president on Jan. 5 during a discussion on how to persuade members of Congress not to certify Joe Biden in the election. Before the 6th of January for Trump, Mr. Scavino promoted the event on Twitter and encouraged people to ‘be a part of history’. And records indicate that on January 6, 2021, Scavino tweeted messages from the White House.

At the time of the January 6 attack, Kashyap Patel was the chief of staff to acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. The former president called Mr. Patel was appointed to this post on November 10, the day after then-Defense Minister Mark Esper was replaced. According to documents provided by the Department of Defense and published accounts, Mr. Patel engaged in talks between senior officials in the Pentagon before and on January 6, 2021 on security in the Capitol, and told a reporter that he was meeting with Mr. Meadows speaks “The day incessantly.” The select committee has previously gathered information on steps taken at the Pentagon to protect national security, before and after Jan. 6, including the role of Mr. Patel and his communications with other Pentagon officials.

It is also reported that the former president tried to kill Mr. Patel to be installed as deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency in early December, but that the planned appointment was abandoned after the then CIA director, Gina Haspel, threatened to resign. The selection committee had previously requested records regarding potential or actual staff changes in the last months of the previous administration, including the appointment of Mr. Patel at the Department of Defense and his reported possible appointment to the CIA.

Stephen Bannon reportedly communicated with former President Trump on December 30, 2020, urging him to focus his efforts on January 6. Bannon also allegedly attended a rally at the Willard Hotel on January 5, 2021 as part of an effort to persuade members of Congress to block the next day’s certification. Bannon is also quoted on January 5 as saying that “[a]ll Hell is going to break loose tomorrow. ”

The 1/6 committee sued people who were in touch with Trump.

The common thread running through each of the four people sued is that they were in touch with Trump before and / or during the 1/6 attack on the Capitol.

The committee probably wants to know what Trump said before and during the uprising he fueled to reverse an election he lost.

The 1/6 committee is coming for Trump. They look at the role that the former president and his administration played in the attack.

Those who have attacked democracy can get justice for holding a corrupt president in power.
