Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will eye consolidation of their position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021’s position as they take on the fight Punjab Kings (PBKS) Friday at the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The team led by Eoin Morgan enjoyed good form in the UAE leg to significantly improve hopes of a playoff spot. KKR won three of their four matches in the UAE and climbed to fourth place in the standings, with their only loss in a cliffhanger against Chennai Super Kings.

In their last game against Delhi Capitals (DC), KKR won a low score by three wickets, with Sunil Narine picking the bowlers with figures of 2/19. Venkatesh Iyer tuned in with figures of 2/29 while Lockie Ferguson finished with 2/10 in 10 overs.

The Kolkata franchise will hope to deliver a similar performance with the ball against PBKS.

With a strong batting line-up, KKR won their battle against DC when they lost seven wickets before crossing the finish line. This is an area in which they will hope to improve.

A win will significantly strengthen KKR’s playoffs, with the team currently on 10 points from 11 games.

PBKS, on the other hand, will see that their own playoff games will get a big hit if they do not win on Friday.

Currently on eight points from 11 games, PBKS will need a miracle to qualify for the play-off rounds if they are the second best against KKR.

The team led by KL Rahul has won just one of its four matches in the UAE as the hope of reaching the end of the season at the end of the business world has taken a beating.

Against Mumbai Indians, PBKS could only handle 135/6 in 20 overs despite Aiden Markram’s good 42-pointer.

A good batting performance is crucial if PBKS wants to score one over KKR on Friday.
