David Warner’s fight for runs in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) had little influence on the Australian T20I captain Aaron Finch, who supported the south leg to get well in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Warner, who had a terrific time with the bat, was left out of the SunRisers Hyderabad to play XI after flop performances in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. Finch, however, said Australia would stay with the combination right and left for which he worked have them in the past in the shortest format of the game. Finch said during a conversation with Sportstar that fans can expect him to open the innings with Warner in the marquee tournament.
“I think you would expect to see Davey (David Warner) and I open the bat in the World Cup. This is something that has worked for us for a long time now,” Finch said. Sportster.
Warner returns to the top of the order for SRH in the UAE leg of IPL after Jonny Bairstow withdrew from the tournament. But the left-handed butcher could not deliver the goods and was replaced by Jason Roy at the top of the order in the SRH XI.
While Warner finds it difficult to score runs, another Australian star Steve Smith has had a shortage of matches. The star batsman has only played two games in the UAE leg of the tournament.
The captain of Australia said about Smith that he could be used to play the anchor role.
“Smith is the best batsman in the world. I have no doubt he is the best possible option to fulfill the anchor role,” Finch added.
