Bangladesh T20I captain Mahmudullah Riyad missed his team’s first warm-up match against Sri Lanka on Tuesday due to a slight back pain. Bangladeshi selector Habibul Bashar said the team did not want to take any risks before the T20 World Cup. “[Mahmudullah] has a slight back pain. He will not have time to rest during the tournament if rugby matches take place. So we do not take any risks, ‘said ESPNcricinfo, according to Bashar.
“He is not playing tomorrow’s game; we will give him time for a while. He is an experienced player so he can recover with some rest and prepare for the tournament,” he added.
Bangladesh will launch their campaign at the Oman Cricket Academy 2021 at the Oman Cricket Academy in Muscat on 17 October.
Bashar said of the conditions in Oman: “The wickets are fresh in Oman. It has not held many matches. These are real wickets. The bowlers get good purchases, and it is good to bat. Get a lot of turns. There are a lot of dew in the evenings, so that was also important information for us. “
Bangladesh and 2014 champions Sri Lanka play in the seventh edition of the tournament alongside Ireland, Namibia, the Netherlands, Oman, PNG and Scotland.
The T20 World Cup kicks off from October 17 with Oman closing horns along with Papua New Guinea (PNG).
