Biden reverses Trump’s policy of terrorizing immigrants with workplace attacks to

The Biden administration has ended the target of immigrants with raids in the workplace and shifted the focus on enforcement to employers.

Biden puts an end to Trump’s terror campaign in the workplace

According to the Department of Homeland Security:

Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas has instructed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to take action to promote a fair labor market by supporting more effective enforcement of wage protection, workplace safety, labor rights and other labor laws and standards.

“The Department of Homeland Security plays a critical role in ensuring that our country’s workplaces comply with our laws,” Secretary Mayorkas said. ‘We will not tolerate unscrupulous employers who exploit unauthorized workers, engage in illegal activities or impose unsafe working conditions. Employers who commit illegal acts force the focus of our enforcement resources. By adopting policies that focus on the most unscrupulous employers, we protect workers as well as legitimate U.S. businesses. ”

In line with a memorandum issued by Secretary Mayorkas on October 12, ICE, CBP and USCIS will develop and update policies to improve the department’s impact on maintaining labor and labor standards. The agencies must also develop strategies to prioritize the maintenance of workplaces against unscrupulous employers and, by exercising discretion of prosecution, facilitate the participation of vulnerable workers in labor standard investigations.

The memorandum also puts an end to the maintenance of mass activities. Under the previous administration, these resource-intensive operations led to the simultaneous arrest of hundreds of workers and were used as a tool by exploitative employers to suppress and reproduce workers’ allegations of labor laws.

The attacks brought down illegal employers and helped

The workplace raids were a terrible Trump policy that helped employers who violated the law exploit immigrants. The message sent by the Biden administration is that it is not a priority to round up and deport immigrants who otherwise break the law.

The raids were time-consuming, costly, and a waste of DHS resources for nothing more than a terrorist campaign designed to deter workers and appeal to Trump’s base.

The money wasted on these raids should be spent on speeding up the processing of immigration cases. Trump has wiped out the entire immigration system, which is rebuilding the Biden administration.

Immigration only falls on immigrants and helps illegal employers. This is a bad policy, and Biden is doing the right thing by putting an end to it.
