Representative Adam Kinzinger believes there is a “realistic” chance that the House committee investigating the riot in the Capitol will sue former President Donald Trump and former Vice President Mike Pence on January 6.
Kinzinger made the comments in an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper Thursday.
“Your colleague, Chairman Bennie Thompson, did not rule out a subpoena for former President Trump. Is this really realistic, a summons for him or Vice President Pence? Ask Cooper.
“Yes, I know it’s realistic,” Kinzinger (R-IL) replied. “I mean, we’re not going to do it right away, because it’s clearly big.”

Trump and Pence subpoenas?
Kinzinger’s prediction that Trump and Pence could see subpoenas comes as a controversy over aides to the former president proving they are willing to defy the committee’s orders in their individual circumstances.
Steve Bannon, former Trump adviser could not show Thursday for a scheduled eviction, which asked the committee to request a criminal referral.

Kinzinger is one of two Republicans on the committee, Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) is the other. Both are hardened ‘Never Trump’ Republicans.
Cheney het told reporters in the American Capitol, “Generally people will have to appear, or you will file contempt charges against them.”
It will be interesting to see what happens if the committee sues Trump and Pence. If Bannon would defy the committee, you know that Trump, who has already argued ‘executive privilege’ in this case, would do the same.
Cheney and Kinzinger undoubtedly dream openly about the opportunity to send a criminal referral to the former president.

Kinzinger The Fool
In his interview with Cooper, Kinzinger further suggested that he was merely interested in the truth, something that is really under the priority list of the select committee.
He also issued a warning to anyone – including Trump and Pence – who may now or in the future consider defying the committee’s subpoenas.
“We are determined to reach the core of what happened,” he said, pretending that he and his colleagues had not yet come to a conclusion.
“Hopefully, if people misinterpret something else, interpret it. We are serious about this, ”Kinzinger stated. “Anyone who is being sued now or will be in the future – think twice before rejecting a legitimate congressional order.”
Perhaps his threats would be taken more seriously if he did not turn into a fiery John Boehner at the first recollection of a tense confrontation during a mostly peaceful rally on January 6th.

Well, isn ‘t it special?
Kinzinger added that he and the committee would prove it “once and for all” [January 6th] was not peaceful and honest, that it was nobody, but actually an uprising inspired by Trump.

Trump responded in a statement Thursday to threats of criminal referrals for his former aides.
‘The January 6 unelected committee, made up of radical left-wing Democrats and some abominable RINO Republicans, is looking for people in the criminal contempt of things related to the protest, while actually having to keep themselves in criminal contempt, he said.
“They use prosecutors and prosecutions to destroy more than half of this country, and the people are not going to stand for it!” added Trump.
