The Daily Mail report:
An Australian actress is fighting for her life on ICU after suffering a stroke caused by the rare side effect of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
Melle Stewart, 40, received her first dose of Oxford vaccine on May 24 in London, where she and her husband and co-actor Ben Lewis received her first dose.
Thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome is an extremely rare condition that includes low platelet levels, and only 156 cases of the disease have been reported from nearly 13 million doses of AstraZeneca administered in Australia.
Of these, only 8 died, and it is still unclear whether this can be attributed to underlying conditions.
The chance of experiencing this rare side effect is very low and occurs in about 4-6 people out of every million after being vaccinated, according to the Australian Government’s website.
A GoFundMe was drafted for Melle Stewart – As of Sunday night, $ 168,000 has been raised for the Aussie actress.
