Opener David Warner scored a fifty, but Sri Lanka tipped the wickets of Australian captain Aaron Finch and Glenn Maxwell in a quick session in a Super 12 match at the 2020 T20 World Cup at Dubai International Stadium. Kusal Perera and Charith Asalanka dominated the Australian bowling attack after the early wicket of Pathum Nissanka as they raced past the 50-run mark within the power play. Spinner Adam Zampa finished with figures of 2/12 in 4 overs when Australia came back into the match with the wickets of Wanindu Hasaranga, Avishka Fernando, Perera and Asalanka in quick succession. Bhanuka Rajapaksa finished strong to help Sri Lanka pass the 150-run mark. Australia defeated South Africa in their opening match by five wickets and two remaining balls. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, also achieved a victory where they went past Bangladesh with five wickets and seven balls left.
