League Cup, Preston vs Liverpool: Divock Origi achieves an outrageous goal without looking back in Liverpool’s victory. Look

Liverpool FC were bosses of the round of 16 draw against Preston in the League Cup to achieve a comfortable 2-0 victory. Although both goals came late in the second half of the game, Liverpool enjoyed the majority of possession and controlled the pace of the game at will. The highlight of the match came six minutes before the end of normal time in the second half when striker Divock Origi scored an outrageous backhand goal from a pass that was slightly behind him.

The video of the goal went viral on social media and it was also shared afterwards by Liverpool’s official social media handles, with a caption saying:

“There’s only one way to start your day … Every corner of Divock’s beautiful, instinctive finish at Deepdale.”

With driver Jurgen Klopp playing a relatively weaker team, rand Liverpool players seized the opportunity and put in good performances.

The Japanese striker Takumi Minamino gave the away team a decisive lead in the 62nd minute to calm the nerves in the Liverpool camp.

With a goal to show after enjoying 73 per cent of the ball, Liverpool looked the more organized side in the dying moments of the second half.


In the 84th minute, left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas’ curler hit the crossbar and somehow ended up near Origi. An instinctive forward, Origi paired his right heel and scored a goal that will surely be discussed in the coming days.

Preston came to Liverpool in coal and also had four shots on target, equal to their counterparts. However, goalkeeper Adrian was too good to get past and helped Liverpool clear.
