Afghanistan vs Pakistan: Afghanistan star Rashid Khan the fastest to take 100 wickets in T20Is


Afghanistan Star Turner Rashid Khan became the fastest bowler to take 100 wickets in T20Is on Friday. Rashid achieved the feat during the match against Pakistan in the continued T20 World Cup. The Afghan spinner fired Pakistani versatile Mohammad Hafeez to reach the milestone. Shakib Al Hasan, Lasith Malinga and Tim Southee are the players who have taken 100 T20I wickets. Rashid took his 100th wicket in just his 53rd game when he improved Malinga’s record. The Sri Lankan bowler took his 100th wicket in his 76th match.

However, Rashid’s heroism with the ball was not enough to prevents Pakistan from winning for the third time in a row in the ongoing T20 World Cup.

Asif Ali struck four sixes in the penultimate over to help Pakistan secure a hard-fought five-wicket victory over Afghanistan in Dubai on Friday.

With Pakistan needing 24 runs from the last two overs, Asif lifted passer Karim Janat’s first, third, fifth and sixth balls across the border to help Pakistan clear a difficult target of 148 runs.

Asif finished with 25 off just seven balls with four sixes and a single, which left Janat and all the other Afghan players frustrated.

The victory gave Pakistan a third victory in as many matches in Group 2 of the Super 12 phase, securing almost a semi-final, needing just one more victory from their last two matches.

Afghanistan recorded a 147-6 battle in their 20 overs with Gulbadin Naib and captain Mohammad Nabi each scoring 35.

Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam was full of praise for Asif.

“I was very confident that Asif would get us out of any trouble we are in,” said Babar, whose team is at the top of Group 2 with six points in three games.

“Asif’s hold was clean and that’s why we chose him.”

Nabi was equally grateful for Asif’s beating.

“We did not start really well, but the total on the board was decent, but maybe not enough, just because of Asif,” said Nabi.
