BIG MISTAKE OR FOREWORD COMMAND? You’ll never guess what Facebook’s new name “Meta” means in Hebrew

Since the announcement, Jewish users in particular have been mocking the name change. Meta is very similar to the Hebrew word for “death,” tweeted technology expert Nirit Weiss-Blatt. “The Jewish community will mock this name for years to come,” she wrote. Other twitterers also point Facebook to the unfortunate name choice.
Facebook’s new name is now a joke in Israel. But others find it more sinister.
The @Meta #META name is more sinister than you might think. Translate into our old language of #Assirian Meta ܡܝܼܬ т ܵܐ translates to death, robbery of life. @ Neloangelo314 pic.twitter.com/SrEVPbUUNo

Others noted that the music for the Universal Death Squad was playing in the background when Zuckerberg made the Meta announcement.
