“Do not be in the T20 team”: How fans reacted to Shane Warne’s big statement about Steve Smith

England swept Australia away on Saturday with a dominant performance in Dubai and won the Super 12 match by eight wickets to take a giant step towards the T20 World Cup semifinals. Australia were extremely weak on the day, with the batting performing poorly against a well-balanced English bowling team. People like Steve Smith, David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis all failed with the bat in hand. Follow the crushing defeat, former Australian spinner Shane Warne took to Twitter and made a big statement about the team’s composition going forward.
One of the suggestions made by the legendary jumper was that star batsman Steve Smith “should not be in the T20 team”.
Disappointing choice from Australia leaving Marsh and Maxwell batting in the match (he always has to come in after the match). Stoinis must have entered. Poor strategy and tactics of the Aussies. I love Smith, but he should not be in the T / 20 team. Marsh must be !!

However, fans did not agree with Warne.
Stoinis came out for a duck, you want Smith out of the side if he’s Aus best spin player and only anchor … It’s such a stupid proposal, keep discussing pizza toppings, you make more sense. ..

He fails in one T20 match and is trolled as if he is the worst. Smith is the only anchor you have, he’s the only one who knows how to save crashes. Look at WI’s condition with all the power hits and no anchor in the range. Players like Smith are important in a T20 series.

@ stevesmith49 you’re kidding for sure! He’s better than most of the players’ teammates. He has proven last few games and one game here comes all the negativity. Calm Warnie. He’s going to come back stronger. Players like smudge should be in the team, especially mid-overs.

Warner – Offensive Player
Finch – attacking player
Maxwell – attacking player
Stoinis – attacking playerYou need someone like Kohli, Kane & Smith who can avoid batting collapse

Smith needs to be in the team. The perpetual influence. The opposition is worried about how to get him out. Problem is..Where is the aggressive Aussie? Need a creative head on top. This old style is gone. Just plan “A” ..end of story. Swing and miss or freeze on the crease

Why only smith is targeted every time

You were comfortably quiet about Smith for two warm-up games and two group games where he scored on three occasions and was not the other one.
Shit shot today, but he has a very important role to play in our lineup & I do not know how blind you are to that.– jayjnr. (@puntfiend) 30 October 2021
Where were you with your legendary analysis sir in the first 2 games? Smith played a crucial role in the first game and a good enough shot to see Australia at home to SL. What was Marsh’s contribution? Why do you say that only after the fall of Smith?

Steve Smith keeps all your attacking players together and has been your best batsman in the last few games. Your agenda against Smith is staggering at times. Leaving swamp can be debated, but it would be foolish to drop smith.

Steve Smith scored just 1 run off five balls before being tackled by English pacer Chris Jordan.
At one point, the Aussies were 21 for four while staring into the barrel. But a hard hit of 44 off 49 balls by captain Aaron Finch brought some respect to their total. In the end, Australia stumbled to 125 all out in their 20 overs.
The target was a cake for England. Jos Buttler struck an unbeaten 71 off just 32 balls to lead England’s chase.
England batted their way to 126 for two in just 11.4 overs to secure another convincing victory.

England now sit nicely at the top of the Group 1 points ladder with three wins out of three. Australia have two wins from three matches but have two tough Tests in Bangladesh and the West Indies awaiting them.
Lose even one of that match and the Australians could run the risk of missing the semi-finals.
