T20 2021 World Cup, India vs Scotland: “Glad to be back in our Mojo,” Virat Kohli said of India’s defeat of Scotland

Virat Kohli do not want to go overboard after that India’s second consecutive dominant victory in the T20 World Cup though he regrets the absence of a few “good overs” that could have possibly changed the outcome of the matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. India bowled Scotland by eight wickets in 6.3 overs while chasing 86 for victory to stay alive in the semi-finals. In the previous match, India beat Afghanistan by 66 runs. However, the losses against Pakistan and New Zealand have meant that their fate now depends on the match between Afghanistan and New Zealand on Sunday.

“It’s a dominant performance. It was something we were striving for again. I do not want to say too much about today because we know how we can play,” Kohli said at the presentation ceremony after the match.

“These little things in T20 cricket (throws, conditions) matter and we are happy to be back in our mojo,” he added.

However, Kohli regretted not being able to play their usual dominant matches against Pakistan and New Zealand.

“We basically broke it down with the fact that we could not get away at all in those two games, two overs could have made the difference. I’m just glad everyone is coming to their right,” he said.

The Indian captain said they wanted to limit Scotland to “100-120 maximum”.

“But we limited them to a total that allowed us to make everyone jump differently. We talked about finishing in the 8-10 over. You don’t want to go in with six-and-a-half. “or a seven-and-a-half run mark, because then you do too much. We gave that bracket and allowed them to gain that momentum,” he explained.

KL Rahul (50) and Rohit Sharma (30) came out with firearms when they scored 70 runs in the first five overs to clinch the deal for India.

“If you also look at our practice matches, the guys batted like that. Two overs of such cricket and the momentum of the tournament could have been completely different,” Kohli said.

Kyle Coetzer, captain of Scotland, admitted that they were “outclassed in every department.”

“But the only way we will improve is to go through such matches and see it straight. Mark was excellent, he has a variety of skills. Great to see how he learns here at other spinners as well and that’s why these tournaments are important, “he said
