T2) World Cup: Zampa’s reaction to Wade throwing his hat-trick in T20 WC© Instagram
Australian leggie Adam Zampa could have become the third bowler to win a hat-trick in the ongoing T20 World Cup, but wicketkeeper Matthew Wade denied him the opportunity. The incident took place on Thursday during the Super 12 match between Bangladesh and Australia at the Dubai International Stadium. In the 11th over of the innings, Zampa Shamim Hossain and Mahedi Hasan sent off from the last two deliveries respectively.
On his hat-trick, which was the first delivery of the 13th over, Zampa put up a lead from Taskin Ahmed’s bat, but Wade grabbed a routine catch behind the stumps. Interestingly, both players had an exchange on the field that was captured on the blunt microphone.
“It was my three-ball,” Zampa shouted at Wade, who replied, “Yes, I tried to catch it.”
Here is the video:
Zampa blew fire against Bangladesh when he finished the match with figures of 5/19, the best by any bowler in the ongoing T20 World Cup.
Not only that, Zampa also recorded the best bowling figures for an Australian bowler when he improved on James Faulkner’s 5/27 against Pakistan in the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Zampa’s adventures helped Australia bowl out Bangladesh in Dubai on Thursday for a total of 73 under par. In response, Australia won the match by 8 wickets when captain Aaron Finch led from the front and smashed a 20-ball 40.
