NASCAR president condemns ‘Let’s go Brandon’ rallying cry at their race

NASCAR President Steve Phelps has denounced the viral “Let’s Go Brandon” slogan that emerged at one of their races.

Phelps told the Associated Press Friday that the association will take action against any illegal use of its trademarks, including on popular “Let’s Go Brandon” t-shirts.

“We’ll get to anyone (use logos) and get that stuff,” Phelps said. “It’s not right. It is not okay for you to use our trademarks illegally, regardless of whether we agree with what the position is. ”

The rallying cry originated at a NASCAR race in October, after Brandon Brown won for the first time in his career.

At the time, crowds at sporting events regularly sang “f-ck Joe Biden,” but the reporter who interviewed Brown, NBC Sports reporter Kelli Stavast, claimed on air that they sang “Let’s Go Brandon” to support.

Phelps claimed that the meme was “unhappy” and that he felt sorry for Brown and Stavast.

“It’s an unfortunate situation and I feel for Brandon, I feel for Kelli,” Phelps said. “I think this unfortunately speaks to the state of where we are as a country. We do not want to identify with politics, left or right. “
