The approval ratings for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have dropped to incredible lows, according to a newly released poll.
A survey published on Sunday of USA TODAY / Suffolk Universityy revealed that Biden’s approval rating is just 38 percent.
Harris does not fare better with voters, with only 28 percent approving of the work she has done.
USA Today noted that “the survey eases the size of the hole that Democrats have to dig into as they look at the one-year election – on November 8, 2022 – that will determine control of Congress and the second two years of Biden’s term. ”
The report states that some of their findings include the following:
- Nearly half of those surveyed, 46%, say Biden did a worse job as president than they expected, including 16% of those who voted for him. Independents, 7-1 (44% -6%), say he did worse, not better, than they expected.
- Nearly two-thirds of Americans, 64%, say they do not want Biden to participate in a second term in 2024. That includes 28% of Democrats. Opposition to Trump running for another term in 2024 is almost as high, at 58%. That includes 24% of Republicans.
- Vice President Kamala Harris’s approval rating is 28% – even worse than Biden’s. The poll shows that 51% disapprove of the work she does. One in five, 21%, is indecisive.
- Americans overwhelmingly support the infrastructure bill that Biden is about to sign, but they are divided over the more expensive and far-reaching “Build Back Better” bill being discussed in Congress. Only one in four say the bill’s provisions will help them and their families.
“If the election were today, polls say, they would vote for their Republican congressional candidate above the Democratic one by 46% -38%, an advantage that would bode well for the GOP’s hopes of gaining a majority in the House and the “In a president’s first midterm election, his party usually loses ground, and this time the GOP only needs to turn over five seats in the House and one in the Senate to claim control,” the report continues.
