Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is working with the Florida legislature to find a way to prevent illegal migrants from being dropped in his state, according to reports.
DeSantis’ office has announced that the government has sent more than 70 flights of migrants to Jacksonville, Florida.
“More than 70 air charter flights [on] “Aircraft flying from the southwestern border have landed at Jacksonville International Airport,” Larry Keefe, DeSantis’ public safety tsar, told the Washington Examiner. “There are an average of 36 passengers on each of these flights. And it was going on during the summer until September. ”
“We are in a sad situation to try to carry out an investigation. Who facilitates this journey? How do they get here? Who are the support people? Who are the sponsors? ” Keefe asked according to the report.
Keefe said the government is drafting the migrants in Jacksonville before sending them by bus across the east coast.
“We do not know definitively or specifically why Jacksonville is the place of choice,” Keefe said. “[We’re] to look and observe – in fact spying on the government to see what they are doing in the middle of the night from these airport facilities. ”
The New York Post noticed that Keefe’s revelation follows their report that found similar flights full of migrants arriving at Westchester County Airport in the middle of the night.
The White House claimed that the flights to New York carried only teens and children.
“It is our legal responsibility to safely care for unaccompanied children until they can be quickly reunited with a parent or a screened sponsor,” the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services told The Post in response to the revelation.
