Trump-appointed judge rules that United Airlines can mandate Covid vaccines

A judge appointed by Trump on Monday ruled that United Airlines could mandate Covid vaccines for employees.

In a 15 page statement, Mark Pittman, U.S. District Judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, said the plaintiffs could not determine that they would suffer “imminent, irreparable damage.”

Attorneys for the employees argued that the plane’s vaccine mandate violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Last month, Judge Pittman a temporary restraining order, which expired on 8 November.

“Ultimately, however, it is not for the court to decide whether United’s vaccine mandate is a bad policy,” Pittman wrote in his ruling Monday. “Rather, it is the role of the Court to determine whether Plaintiffs bore their burden of obtaining a provisional order.”

Separately, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily suspended Biden’s vaccine mandate for businesses with more than 100 employees.
