India T20I Deputy KL Rahul said on Monday that the long-term focus of his team will be the next World Cup, but every series from this point is equal point. India will settle in a three-match T20I series against New Zealand, which starts in Jaipur on Wednesday. Rohit Sharma will lead with Rahul acting as deputy. “The long-term goal is to focus on the World Cup but we will focus on the process and every series is important from now on. “We will try to see which combinations are perfect for us and can be used for the World Cup, but at the moment we will focus on one series at a time,” Rahul said during a virtual press conference on Monday.
Rahul also praised batsman Rohit Sharma and said his tactics and understanding of a match is really commendable.
“There’s no new thing is Rohit’s captaincy. We’ve seen him lead the Mumbai Indians for a long time and his stats are so amazing. He has a good understanding of the game and his tactics are really good. We all enjoy it. “Rohit bats. He’s a great guy to be with and all of us are excited about the New Zealand series,” said Rahul.
Speaking about his role in the team, Rahul said: “I think it’s a collective effort that happens in a team’s sport like cricket. Everyone needs to be clear about their roles. All the players in the team are already a very long time together., we get along very well. It will be nice to go out and play. “
The T20Is will be played on 17 November in Jaipur, 19 November in Ranchi and 21 November in Kolkata.
Following the T20I series, New Zealand will play two-match Test series starting on 25 November.
The two Tests will be played in Kanpur (November 25-29) and Mumbai (December 3-7).
