India versatile Venkatesh Iyer said that the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played an important role in wearing the Indian jersey. KKR retained Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Varun Chakravarthy and Venkatesh Iyer for the upcoming IPL. “I’m really happy to be back, KKR is the franchise that gave me my big break and introduced me to the world of cricket. I’m extremely grateful to KKR management who put their trust in me. I feel at home being part of KKR, the franchise played a very important role in decorating the blues, I look forward to playing at Eden Gardens, it’s always special to be there and play in front of a packed crowd , “Venkatesh Iyer said according to an official KKR release.
Meanwhile, spinner Varun Chakaravarthy also thanked the franchise for the support and for retaining him ahead of next season’s mega auction.
