Ranveer Singh’s ’83 ‘will soon appear in theaters. But shockingly, the film ended up in a legal problem. A United Arab Emirates-based finance company has reportedly filed a fraud lawsuit against a ’83 ‘manufacturer in a magistrate’s court. Future Resource FZE moved the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court and sued the producers of the film under IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (fraud) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Criminal Code. The complaint mentioned, among others, Vibri Media and its directors. The complaint, filed by attorney Rizwan Siddiquee, alleges that the accused produced the film “83” and made plans to defraud the complainant of his rights in the film. Directors of Vibri Media submitted “manipulated and exaggerated” business plans and profit and loss projections for the period from April 2012 to March 2020 and persuaded the holding company to invest more than Rs 15.90 crore, the complaint reads. However, the case is yet to be heard in court. Kabir Khan’s board, ’83 ‘, recounts India’s victory under Kapil Dev’s captaincy, when the team defeated the West Indies in the final to clinch their first World Cup trophy ever in 1983. Not only that, it will be an absolute pleasure to watch Deepika Padukone plays ‘Romi’, Kapil Dev’s wife. The right couple will be seen together again in real life. Speaking of the rest of the cast, ’83 ‘also features actors Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Ammy Virk, Addinath Kothare, Dhairya Karwa and R Badree. ’83 ‘will appear on the silver screen on December 24 in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
