Saira Banu, Dharmendra Deol and Subash Ghai get emotional as they unveil Dilip Kumar’s mural in Whistling Woods Campus
On the late legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s 99th birthday, along with the rest of the country, filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who regarded the tespian as his mentor, brought him a beautiful tribute. He was proud to unveil a mural by Dilip Kumar, for which he invited the late legend’s wife Saira Banu. Dilip Kumar’s good friend and brother figure Dharmendra was also present for the event. The trio bonded over their memories of the deceased actor and were even seen getting emotional. Saira Banu was accompanied by Dharmendra when she lit the diya, in front of his mural before paying homage to the thespian. It was one of the few times Saira Banu was spotted after his death outside the house she shared with her deceased husband. By remembering the legend, many fans wrote emotional notes. One wrote: “No one can take the place of Dilip Sahab in Bollywood, it is a very sad moment, may Allah give patience to Saira ji.” Another wrote: “Legendary couple Sayra bano and dilip kumar ji respect.” On the way to the event, when the paparazzi asked her how she felt about celebrating her husband’s birthday without him and if she missed him, she had the following to say: ‘There is no question of missing him, because we still walk hand in hand. Yusuf Sahab will always be there with me. ‘ The senior actress even wrote a heartfelt letter to her late husband on the occasion of his birthday, an excerpt of which reads: ‘As I said on the occasion of our wedding anniversary two months ago, he is very much in our midst, gently my hand holding on and expressing his feelings without words … by just the unparalleled, inimitable eloquence of his eyes. Once again, I know that I am not alone now and forever. Happy birthday, Jaan. ‘ Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7 this year after a long illness. He was 98.
