Rep. Schiff said:
I think what we see from these documents is a joint effort with many different lines of effort to overthrow the election. First, start by laying the predicate for a challenge to the legitimacy of the election, when the president falsely called the country that counted any vote after election day was underway be illegal in some way. Then the frivolous litigation across the country, the president’s efforts weigh state election officials try get them to overturn the results ask. Then on January 6, the attempt to interfere with the count of the voters.
And so, it’s a comprehensive picture we put together of all those multiple rules of effort. And you know, that slight cover, as well as other documents – sliding deck, as well as others documents, show which extreme height people inside and out the administration was willing to go to essentially overthrow a presidential election and install Donald Trump as the president, who failed to win the election.
Rep. Schiff presented what may be the clearest idea of what happened in the period from October 2020 to January 6, 2021. Trump laid the groundwork to try to steal the election weeks before election day with his cries of fraud and complaints about mail-in ballots.
Ship was right. There were several ways of attempting, but they were all focused on the outcome of the overthrow of the election to keep Donald Trump in power illegally.
Rep. Schiff showed how a president betrayed his country in an attempt to overthrow the will of the people.
Schiff’s remarks make it clear why Donald Trump is the number one enemy of American democracy.
