Schumer said on the Senate floor:
On the parallel track, the Senate moves forward on the reconciliation process so that we can vote on the Build Back Bpus Act before Christmas holiday. Committees that receive reconciliation instructions submitted the final text to the Member of Parliament, the Congressional Budget Office, and our Republican counterparts.
Throughout the week, both Republicans and Democrats will hold bipartisan meetings the Member of Parliament. In the meantime I will continue meet with my colleagues. I know the president will too continue discussions while we hammer the final details of Bowl Back Better.
This remains a laborious process, which requires a lot of precision and pieces move together. I want to thank my colleagues and their staff and especially the Member of Parliament and her team for their dedication and focus as we approach a vote on the floor. The work is not finished yet. We work hard to Senate in a position to endpoint legislation line before Christmas.
Schumer raises the heat on Joe Manchin
Chuck Schumer places Joe Manchin on an island and bets Manchin does not want to be the Democrat who sank Joe Biden’s domestic agenda.
Schumer is not going to be held hostage by the whims of one senator. He and the White House are willing to work with Manchin to get his vote, but they are not going to allow the West Virginia Senator to dictate or determine when legislation is passed.
Manchin has said nothing to suggest he wants to be the senator who blew up a Democratic president’s agenda, so instead of allowing the inmates to run the asylum like Kevin McCarthy does with the House Republicans, Chuck uses Schumer’s the schedule to send a strong message to Sen. Manchin that passing Build Back Better is a must.
