Former Indian cricketer Kirti Azad said on Tuesday that if Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli do not play together, the team will suffer. Rohit Sharma will miss the upcoming Test series against South Africa due to a thigh muscle injury and Virat Kohli’s participation in the one-day series also remains unclear. Last week, Rohit was handed the reins of EDI and T20I formats. “If Rohit and Virat do not play together, the team will suffer later, they will suffer first themselves. One player will replace another. No one is indispensable. Many greats have come and gone. Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar “Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly. So, they will suffer first if they do not play in each other’s captaincy,” Azad told ANI.
“Rohit who is bad and Kohli is not available for the one day matches, two of your best players who are not available for one of your series are really serious for India. They were the mainstays of Indian batting and the board needs to find out where the problem is, if there is any at all, rather than his member tweeting that there could be a rift in the side.It is not good for the morale of the team and South Africa is a good team especially if you “Playing on good hard courts is completely different from playing in any part of the world. The wickets are different,” he added.
Azad’s remarks come after former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin tweeted on Tuesday that Kohli “informed that he was not available for the one-day series” in South Africa. “Virat Kohli has informed that he is not available for the EDI series and Rohit Sharma is not available for the upcoming test. It is not bad to take a breather, but the timing should be better. “Speculation about the break. It will not be either. Give up the other form of cricket,” he wrote in his tweet.
Virat Kohli has informed that he is not available for the one-day series and Rohit Sharma is not available for the upcoming test. It’s not bad to take a break, but the timing should be better. It only substantiates speculation about the rift. None of them will give up the other form of cricket.

Azad said he was surprised by Azharuddin’s tweet as the former Indian captain is part of the BCCI because he is the president of Hyderabad Cricket Association.
“I’m really surprised by Azhar who’s a great player and former Indian captain and who’s also part of the BCCI. He’s the president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association. So, he says what the BCCI says, because once he does anything “If anything is tweeted on social media, it is taken as part of an association or part of BCCI,” Azad said.
“It could lead to a lot of problems within the BCCI and it might just be nothing. So, these are irrelevant kind of statements without any substance about it. I’ll just call it speculation,” he added.
