Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir feeling that opening batsman Rohit Sharma is missing the Test series against South Africa is a “massive blow” to the visitors before the tour. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Monday that Rohit has been ruled out in the three-match Test series against South Africa due to a thigh muscle problem. “It’s a big blow for India and the way he has batted in England he would love to go to South Africa as he would not want to miss a Test while he was in good shape. He is just as “a vice-captain has been appointed, so it’s a massive blow,” Gambhir told ANI.
“Great opportunity for young people to seize this opportunity and make the country proud,” Gambhir added.
Rohit, who was recently appointed as the team’s vice-captain, suffered a left thigh muscle injury during his training session in Mumbai on Sunday.
