In the FP1 session, it was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who topped the timesheet. He was followed by Mercedes’ George Russell and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in the second and third positions.

How the Qualifying session works
The qualifying session will start at 22:30 IST today. The qualifying session is divided into three parts, Q1, Q2, and Q3. Q1 lasts 18 minutes and has all 20 cars on the grid. At the end of Q1, the five slowest cars are eliminated. Drivers who finish 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 are eliminated.
Q2 session lasts for 15 minutes and has 15 cars on the grid. Again the slowest cars are eliminated from 11th to 15th position. Q3 lasts for 12 minutes and has 10 cars on the grid. The position in which the drivers finish in Q3 will be their starting grid positions for the race.
